Broadway Bound Kids
Lead Teaching Artist - Performing Arts Education
Broadway Bound Kids, a nonprofit providing transformative and inclusive performing arts education, is seeking enthusiastic, creative, and experienced Lead Teaching Artists who love kids and are passionate about performing arts education. We provide comprehensive interactive programs for Pre-K through 12th grade focusing on enhancing technical skills, social-emotional learning, confidence, connection, mindfulness, and creativity.
Teaching Artist Positions Available:
Arts for Diverse Learners Grant: Teaching Artists visit schools up to three times per week during the school day for 2-6 hours. This program supports inclusive arts education for multilingual learners and students with disabilities. Experience working with diverse student populations, collaborating with school teachers, and daytime availability required. These residencies are primarily musical theater based, requiring experience in music, dance, and acting. All residencies culminate in a final share planned and executed by the TA. Rate: $70/hr.
Broadway Jr Program: A partnership between Music Theatre International (MTI) and NYC Department of Education with support from the Shubert Foundation. BBK seeks Production Advisors to work with DOE teachers on mounting their first musical theater production. Rate: $60/hr.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, document, and implement strong performing arts curriculum for students in pre-K to 12th grade
- Collaborate with BBK programming team, school staff, and co-teachers to create lessons for specific student communities
- Take attendance and facilitate student drop-off/pick-up when appropriate
- Oversee transportation and use of materials as required
- Complete site reports within 24 hours of each class
- In some cases, direct/choreograph/music direct produced musicals or devised theater pieces (higher compensation)
Required Qualifications:
- Flexible weekday availability 8 AM - 6 PM
- Appropriate experience in Theater, Dance, Vocal Performance, or Education
- 2+ years teaching and classroom management experience, preferably in schools or after-school programs
- Demonstrated commitment to creating educational spaces fostering community through Social Emotional Learning and Trauma Informed Practice
- Experience developing performing arts curriculum and lesson planning
- Experience working with diverse populations and ages 3-18
- Passion for expanding teaching skill-set and collaborating with teaching cohort
- Organized, dependable, self-motivated, punctual with strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Multilingual a plus
Mandatory in-person group audition: October 15th, 5-8 PM. Attendance is mandatory for consideration. Program-specific trainings dates TBD. All placements made at discretion of Broadway Bound Kids based on experience, discipline, and school community needs.
