Vocalists for 2 Gospel Ensembles
Seeking vocalists to join two ensembles:
1. The Harlem Praise Singers perform weekly Wednesday concerts at the historic Convent Ave. Baptist Church in Harlem, NY. This hour of inspirational gospel and spirituals encourages audience participation and uplifts the souls of all who attend. We're looking for strong, engaging vocalists who can connect with an audience. Performers will sing solo, as well as in an ensemble. Must have a vast knowledge of Gospel music and be a quick learner, as rehearsal times are limited. Available Wednesdays from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Salary: $275.00 per gig.
2. The Harlem Jubilee Singers is a concert tour group that combines the African-American vernacular with gospel music. This group tours internationally and has performed in places such as Argentina, Mexico, Central and Latin America, France, Spain, and Italy. Must have a valid passport.
Requirements for both:
- Comfortable ear-learning and hearing vocal parts
- Previous experience singing in a gospel-style ensemble
- Specify preferred vocal part (soprano, mezzo, alto, bass, baritone, tenor)
Audition: Saturday, October 31st, 2026, 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Convent Ave. Baptist Church, 420 West 145th Street, New York, NY 10031. Prepare a 32-bar cut of 2 contrasting spirituals or gospel songs.
