Supervising Video Producer, The New Yorker
Key Responsibilities:
• Edit original short- and long-form videos with archival research, animation, sound design, and motion graphics
• Oversee video post-production workflows and editorial closing process
• Review and prepare video submissions from filmmakers
• Shepherd projects through pre-production, production, and distribution
• Independently produce and shoot videos as needed
• Collaborate with producers, editors, reporters, and cross-institutional teams
• Maintain video guidelines and documentation for consistent editorial practices
• Assist with film screenings and vendor coordination
Required Qualifications:
• 5+ years digital video experience in journalism or documentary
• Expert in Adobe Premiere Pro; comfortable with After Effects
• Experience in post-production coordination (color, sound, graphics)
• Proficiency editing in different styles and tones
• Strong digital video shooting skills with Sony cameras, lighting, and sound
• Excellent communication and collaborative skills
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Deep knowledge of The New Yorker's tone and video series
• Willingness to work flexible hours including early mornings, nights, weekends
Preferred:
• Film production degree
• Awareness of latest social video and documentary trends
