What are PEN credits?

PEN — usually just called "pens" — is the credit currency for AI features. Anything where the platform runs an AI model for you draws on your pen balance. Everything else on the platform is free to use.

What costs pens

Broadly, these draw on your balance:

• Spotty messages — a flat charge per message you send, whatever Spotty does to answer it. Looking things up, searching your data, and offering you action cards are all included in that one charge.
• Finder runs — Talent Finder, Job Finder, and Client Finder.
• AI drafting — generated emails, application letters, outreach drafts, and AI-built listings or projects.
• Application analysis and application autofill.
• AI helpers such as CSV column mapping and building a CRM contact from a URL or an image.

Always check the live cost

Costs are configurable and can change, so the platform shows you the current cost in the app before you run something. Never rely on a number from memory or from an old article — if you want the exact figure, look at the action in the app, or ask Spotty for the current cost and it will read the live value.

What is free

Adding people to your roster or CRM by hand, editing projects, browsing opportunities, messaging, notifications, and reading this Help Center do not cost pens.

Running out

If your balance is too low for an action, the platform stops before doing any work and tells you — you are never charged for something that did not run. Top up or change plan from the pricing page, and check your balance any time at /billing/usage/.
