Job helpers and the Companion
Companion is how Spotty keeps an eye on work between chats. Open it at /community/spotty/companion/, or from community Settings. It is also in the app. You accept a short consent the first time; you can withdraw it later. Companion stays paused until you accept the current consent text. Turning Companion or a helper off lists Circles and rooms you may want to leave.
What a helper does
A helper checks on the cadence you pick — as often as your plan allows. The check itself costs no pens and does not write anything for you. When it finds something, you get a notification and, if a paid step would help, a card to approve.
Opportunity sources
Pick at least one:
- Job Finder listings — on by default. Uses your search profile.
- Public projects matching your search profile.
- Incoming portfolio and Talent Finder inquiries — from your CRM, without reading private message text.
- Due CRM follow-ups.
Listings and projects need a complete search profile. Inquiries and follow-ups use your CRM. Nothing is sent or applied for automatically. You mark a finding Useful, save a project, or dismiss it.
Approve cards and the weekly budget
Cards such as Search the web and Draft an application show the live pen cost. Approving one spends from the weekly pen budget you set on that helper. Rejecting costs nothing. When the budget is used up, further paid cards wait until next week.
Circle digest
Optionally, Companion can send a weekly summary of Circles you are in. Delivery waits for your quiet hours to end and skips a week with no news. This is separate from the digest on your Dashboard and from the weekly brief from Spotty.
Quiet hours and pause
Set quiet hours in your local time so checks and digests wait until morning. Pause all Companion activity stops every helper and the digest until you resume. Withdrawing consent has the same effect.
How many helpers
Your plan decides how many helpers you can run and the fastest cadence. If a screen is missing, check what your plan includes. The name you give a helper is a label — it does not change the search.
